Sony Online Entertainment announced that DC Universe Online is going free-to-play in October. This will happen for both the PS3 and PC versions.The reason appointed were ‘the higher than predicted costs’ for maintaining the game. Besides the free-to-play model, players may also opt for a Premium or Legendary model, offering different advantages each.
