The Secret World Launch Date Moved
Funcom has announced that the launch date for its upcoming MMO The Secret World has been moved back to July 3rd, with early access beginning on June 29th.
In its press release, the company stated, “The new launch date places The Secret World in a more positive launch window which will benefit the launch of the game.”

I've been playing D&D Next against myself, as my regular group isn't signed up for the beta test. That actually isn't a bad method to test a rules system, as you can concentrate on the rules without rule-independent factors like story and roleplaying getting in the way. It also gives me the opportunity to try the "mean DM": What would happen if I played the monsters to the maximum of their written abilities without factoring in "artificial stupidity" for reasons of fairness or story?

A contrarian view
I can't help it. When I read a dozen blogs expressing exactly the same sentiment, I have to ask myself whether that sort of group think is justified, or whether there is another possible interpretation of the same facts. In this case the facts are that a lot of game developers lost their jobs lately. Bioware laid off an unspecified number of SWTOR developers (and started talking about server mergers), and 38 Studios fired everybody. And the common sentiment I hear is what a shame that is. Dare

Imagine you have a character in a MMORPG who just hit the level cap. You enter a dungeon with a group, somebody in the group inspects you, and he points out to you that the gear you are wearing is bad. Firefall - Level system removed for good
[Game website] In the latest developer diary, it was announced that the level system in Red 5 Studio's Firefall will officially be discarded. This is apparently to accommodate a "much more organic system for player growth". Beyond reviews?
On Metacritic Diablo III has a relatively high score from professional critics, and a rather low score from user reviews. I would say that both of these scores aren't representative of anything, and the truth lies somewhere in the middle. I like using printed D&D adventure modules. As a DM one usually doesn't have anybody to discuss with while preparing adventures; so if you just invent an adventure out of thin air, you don't have checks and balances to make sure you're not creating something which is boring, or unbalanced, or unbelievable. A decade of attention deficit disorder
Between Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 there is over a decade of time. And many of the developments of that decade apparently haven't registered with Blizzard's game developers. Release date for 38 Studios’ “Project Copernicus” MMO
Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Chafee said during a press conference earlier today that the 38 Studios MMO codenamed “Project Copernicus” is supposed to release in June of next year.

Due to login server problems I didn't play Diablo III on launch day. But this morning I was able to play for 10 minutes, just to make sure the game worked. I got to level 3 and had 438 gold pieces. Kingdoms of Amalur developer in financial trouble
[Source] I am surprised EA is not helping a lending hand so far. The developer of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, 38 Studios, is apparently embroiled in a financial with the local authorities of Rhode Island. You see, the studio was promised a loan of USD 75 million back then to move to the area, which was criticized by then governor candidate Lincoln Chafee. Now that he is the governor, things will not be going as smoothly as planned.

According to reliable sources (though not confirmed), Rockman Online has officially been canceled by Neowiz Games, although the news has yet to be made public by the Korean MMO giant. Why I Don’t Like Raiding

For me, raiding offers a pretty disjointed experience, counter intuiative to the whole leveling game in itself. Indeed, just like we now have games like League of Legends that offer what equates to essentially full-time PvP battlegrounds, maybe we should have completely separate games for raiding instead of trying to tack

As I mentioned in my review, the Reavers of Harkenwold D&D adventure comes with the last maps of the Iron Keep missing. The Elder Scrolls Online - Announcement trailer debuts
In my previous post, several details and screenshots for The Elder Scrolls Online were revealed. IGN (link) also revealed the 3 playable factions, races and a couple of features found in the game.
