Phantasy Star Online 2 to be free-to-play

Sega just announced that the MMO Phantasy Star Online 2 is going to be a free-to-play affair. Besides the PC version, there are also versions for the PlayStation Vita, Android and iOS in development. The two mobile versions will be capable of sharing data with the PC and Vita versions. As usual, the MMO will be supported by micro-transactions.A closed beta is scheduled for the end of April in Japan and the PC version will launch this summer.
