Sony trying to patent offline MMO events ?

[Source] Is Sony for real? The embattled mega Japanese corporation, which is undergoing massive restructuring to cut losses, has filed a patent for a program that would, as the source states, "encourage gamers to head into the daylight for organized events where everyone knows your online name." Does it means Blizzard will have to pay patent fees to Sony for holding BlizzCon if the patent application goes through? Wow, just wow.
